Darwin consists of two ghost towns. An Anaconda company town of about 70 buildings is a true ghost, but is off limits to the public. The rest of Darwin is a semi-ghost with about 50 inhabitants.

There are several dugouts on the outskirts of town. The locals still use these to get out of the intense summer heat. Darwin is located west of Death Valley.
