Sumpter Valley Dredge, Sumpter, Oregon
Sumpter is not a ghost town since it has a population of 190 and a tourist railway, but its rare gold dredge qualifies it for this section of photos. In 1903 the census showed a population of 3500 in Sumpter, but this did not include women, children, or Chinese.
