Jizo information
In Japan, Jizo are small stone statues that are worshipped as protectors of the souls of deceased children. If someone who has lost a child comes to worship they try find a Jizo image that resembles their deceased child. Aprons are meant to keep the child warm in the afterlife, and prayers are offered so that the spirits of the lost children will have a peaceful rest.
