Drowned trees at Cisco Beach, Bear Lake, Utah.
Drowned trees at Cisco Beach, Bear Lake, Utah.  Trees that grew along the shore in low water years didn't survive when the water level rose.
Bear Lake freezes about seven out of ten years, usually by late January or early February.  So, open water in winter is a common sight.
