Skijoring is a sport where a horse and rider pulls a skier through an obstacle course.
I can imagine a few bored guys sitting in a bar on a cold, stormy winter night, and one of them says "I wonder how fast we could ski if we are pulled by a horse". And maybe that's how skijoring started?
This event took place in Garden City, Utah today. The object is to ski the length of an obstacle course faster than anyone else, pulled by a horse. There are gates to go through like a slalom, three jumps on both sides of the course, and three rings that have to be snatched off poles. The skier uses the rope to help steer across the course to obstacles on each side, and the horse and rider just have to go straight as fast as they can. What a sight!
